Mansfield has a dense history of trade. Since 1277 they have used a market charter to expand their town. Starting from hosting weekly markets, which they still do to this day, they used their position between some other big towns and cities to eventually become a trading hub between Nottingham, Worksop, Chesterfield, and Newark. They used the money that was being generated to invest into other industries such as; Quarrying and Textiles.
